U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention CDC PLACES (Census Tract)
Description
Health and behavioral measures estimated at the Census Tract grain. Tract FIPS is the 11-character state(2) + county(3) + tract(6) identifier — a clean prefix of the 12-character block-group GEOID used by the `DEWEYDATA.CENSUS.ACS5_*_BG` datasets, so PLACES joins to ACS via `SUBSTR(acs.geoid, 1, 11) = places.tractfips`. ~83.5K rows per release covering all 50 states, DC, and Puerto Rico tracts.
Licensing and redistribution. CDC publishes PLACES in the public domain (the dataset's license field on data.cdc.gov reads "Public Domain"; CDC's general policy states most CDC material "is not subject to copyright, is in the public domain, and may be freely used or reproduced without obtaining copyright permission").
